Thieves, beware
We are working with Merseyside Police to clamp down on the theft of stolen boilers. Over the last 6 months alone, we’ve had over 80 boilers taken from our properties.
At around £3000 per unit, the cost of replacing these boilers significantly affects how much money we can invest back into our tenants’ homes.
We have been using a host of different measures to address the problem including the use of CCTV, silent alarms and tagging.
We’re also using SmartWater which directly links thieves to the crime scene. SmartWater stays on the skin, hair and clothing for weeks providing the police with DNA evidence and has already been used in the arrests of four men.
In another incident, a smart alarm system was triggered and a technician arrived within 15 minutes, disturbing the assailants and stopping the boiler being stolen. The empty property was then made secure.
Although the police are making arrests and progress is being made, we urgently need people to come forward with any information that can help us in tackling this issue.
We are offering a £1000 reward to anybody who provides information that leads directly to a prosecution. If you think you can help, please call us on 0300 365 1111.
