Everybody needs good neighbours
One Vision Housing’s supported housing schemes recently held a series of events to celebrate European Good Neighbours’ Day.
The principle of the day is simple. Each resident from over 30 participating countries, is invited to make a simple gesture at the same time. This could be as simple as speaking to someone they've never spoken to before, or getting involved in a communal event.
At Fernley Grange in Southport, The Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Maureen Fearn opened an event which was attended by Age Concern and Stanley High School. The afternoon was an opportunity to forge new links with local people and agencies within the Southport area.
Kenyons Lodge in Lydiate hosted a medieval event in Maghull Town Hall. As well as receiving useful information, there was also opportunity to get dressed up in medieval gear and enjoy some European cuisine.
At Millspring Court in Bootle, the weather was nice enough to have a BBQ in the sunshine. There was also a tombola, bingo and a card sale.
Special events were also held at all other schemes and were extremely positively received.
One Vision Housing Supported Housing Manager Edna Dillon said: "These type of events are a brilliant opportunity for tenants to meet new people and for them to realise that a lot of people care about them. Thank you to all who came along to the events and made them such a success."
