Don't leave it on display
The Sefton area has seen an unexpected seasonal increase in reported theft from motor vehicles.
Number plates are one such item that have been taken from cars.
Police at your local police station will be able to provide you with number plate security screws which will prevent your vehicle number plates becoming a target. They can be obtained free of charge by telephoning 0151 709 6010 and then asking for your local police station.
Other items reported stolen were a radio and CDs, mounting for Sat Navs, lap tops, bank cards, cash, a driving licence, tools, brief case, handbag and a purse.
Many of these crimes may not have been committed if items had not been left on display when the vehicle was left unattended.
If you own a hatch back motor vehicle ensure the cover is protecting any items left in the car. Also leave the glove compartment open so any passerby can see the compartment is empty.
Please be extra vigilent. Just a few extra precautions can prevent you becoming another statistic.
