Young Tenant of the Year
Congratulations to Matt Smith, One Vision Housing resident and TPAS’s Young Tenant of the Year!
Matt triumphed at an awards ceremony in Manchester on Friday (11th) after judges praised his dedication to making a difference in the community.
One Vision Housing Community Development Manager Ruth Richardson said: "Matt’s a highly motivated and inspirational young man who does an enormous amount for his community. He works tirelessly to create opportunities for others and his knowledge and expertise enable him to work as a youth engagement consultant as well as chairing One Vision Housing’s Youth Forum.”
Matt’s commitment to youth empowerment sees him engage in a number of community projects that are both entrepreneurial and altruistic. This includes running a purely voluntary youth club in Bootle where he delivers The Duke of Edinburgh Award, helping young people to fund raise as well as taking the children camping and ice skating. He also works for Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) bridging the generational gap by teaching adults how to successfully engage with young people.
He said: "I'm proud to win this award. The work I do is something to look forward to, not to dread. The activities and work I engage in indulge my passion for social change and give me the opportunity to make a difference on a local level.”
