Just the job
Have you been to one of our work clubs?
They are there to help you find training and employment and help you with all areas of the job search, from interview techniques to help with CVs.
Within weeks of attending a work club at Netherton Park Neighbourhood Centre, 57 year old Shirley Knowles was fully trained and ready to start her new role as a Care Worker for Home Instead – an award winning home care service for elderly people, allowing them to stay in their homes for as long as possible.
It was at the work club that Shirley met Bob Allen, Skills and Employment Officer at One Vision Housing.
“Bob was brilliant,” said Shirley. “After talking to him, I realised that I was giving myself little chance of even getting an interview, my CV was that out of date. Bob helped me update my CV and write a covering letter and even gave me a USB stick with interview techniques on.”
Shirley was also introduced to Irene Hough from Home Instead and Jane O’Shaughnessy from Working Links. Effective partnership working between the two ensured that Shirley was given the training and knowledge needed to prosper in her new role.
“I’d definitely recommend going along to one of the work clubs," said Shirley. "They give you the tools and encouragement to get back into the world of work."
