Talking 'bout my generation
St John’s Court residents recently enjoyed a visit from the local children from the neighbouring St John’s Primary School.
The children and adults came together to talk and reminisce about World War II and what it was like in Sefton at that time.
Residents enjoyed sharing their knowledge and experience with the schoolchildren who have just finished learning about WW II in their history lessons.
Community Development Officer Tracie Lee said: "It is great that we can bring the two generations together and have them working together and enjoying each other’s company. It’s a great social activity for the residents of St John’s Court and a great opportunity for the children to hear WW II stories from those who experienced it firsthand. At the same time, barriers are being broken down between the two generations which is important for communities to be cohesive."
This project has already proved successful in the Orrell area and is also running in Southport with Fernley Grange residents and children from Marshside Primary School.
