Making a difference
One Vision Housing’s younger tenants made some new friends recently – drinking tea and playing bingo with some older residents at Ford Lane Community Centre.
The young people – Youth Ambassadors for One Vision Housing, decided that they would like to put on an event for older residents, giving them the chance to get out of their homes and socialise in a different setting.
The event was part of the Community Service Volunteers (CSV) “Make a difference” day, with the theme this year focussing around loneliness.
The young people served up endless cups of tea and cakes and even took part in the bingo calling.
One Vision Housing resident Doreen Jesser said: “The young people worked very hard to ensure we all had a great time. They truly were fantastic ambassadors for both the organisation and young people in the community as a whole.”
As well as countless games of bingo and a raffle, there was also live music although it was the older residents leading the way on the dance floor.
Youth Engagement Officer, Marie Morgan said: “The day was a huge success in breaking down the barriers between young and old. Although the event was aimed at our older residents, our young ambassadors all had a fantastic time too."
