Skills on tap
propservices

Tradesmen from One Vision Housing Property Services have been teaching their older tenants some useful skills to help them in their home over the winter period.

Kenyons Lodge in Lydiate were visited by plumbers and electricians who underwent a series of workshops with the residents including showing them where their stop taps were, how to turn their water off in the event of a leak, how to check smoke alarms and what to do if the power fails.

Apprentice Electrician Michael Von Bargen said: “We hope that teaching our tenants a few simple skills around the home will result in them feeling more secure in their home at a time of year when they are most vulnerable.”

Aside from the workshops, the workmen also got involved with some festive bingo and dished out some mince pies.

Resident Harriet Wilson said: “The lads from One Vision were fantastic, giving us some really useful tips on how to stay safe. They would be welcome back anytime!”

One Vision Housing Property Services formed at the end of September last year and made £2.2m profit in their first six months alone – money which has been gift aided to its parent company, One Vision Housing, who are using the capital to invest in their stock and build new properties.

Their 140 staff includes nine local full time apprentices ranging from 16-32 years old who cover a variety of trades. Michael Von Bargen, 17 – the first employee taken on by OVHPS, recently won Young Apprentice of the Year at One Vision Housing’s staff awards.
