Marsh Lane Community Day A Real Success

A community day aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour in Bootle has been hailed as a success by organiser One Vision Housing after over 200 people attended the event.

Organised specifically for the residents of the Marsh Lane area, the multi agency event offered a fun packed programme of activities including informative displays, community activities and attractions for all the family, including a climbing wall kindly donated by Sefton Positive Futures.

Held at the Brunswick Youth Club the One Vision Housing Resident Involvement Team were on hand to provide residents with information about dealing with anti-social behaviour, the £200 million Decent Homes Improvement Programme currently being undertaken across the borough and other community issues.

As part of its approach to community involvement, One Vision Housing works closely with partner agencies, including other housing associations such as Riverside, Hornby Homes and Pierhead Housing, with representatives of each attending the event.

One Vision Housing's Anti-Social Behaviour Team were joined by local Police Officers and Bootle MP Joe Benton who also attended to help promote the Government's RESPECT Agenda.

Coaches from Everton in the Community provided free football sessions in the evening for under 16's living in the area.

One Vision Housing Resident Involvement Officer Joanne Watkins said: "The day was a complete success and I believe everyone who came along found it useful and informative. I was particularly pleased to see some of the young people who turned out in great numbers to help support the event.

"We are very grateful for the involvement and support of all our partner agencies and I hope that together we can continue to organise events like this to ensure that all our customers not only have access to all the information they need but also have the opportunity to get involved with the decision making process."

Paul White, external Funding Co-ordinator from Greater Manchester Connexions Partnership, said: "The RESPECT event was a fantastic opportunity to talk to and meet with young people and residents from the Marsh Lane area as well as celebrating the work of the partner groups and organisations in the borough.

"It also enabled us to raise awareness of the wide range of support, advice, guidance and activities that organisations like One Vision Housing and Connexions can offer 13 to 19 year olds across Sefton."
