Full Set of Green Lights for One Vision Housing

One Vision Housing is celebrating the news that it has been given a full set of ‘green lights’ by the Housing Corporation, only 16 months after its creation.

The accolade, coming shortly after the housing association was awarded with Charter Mark status, is a glowing indication by the Housing Corporation of their confidence in the way One Vision Housing is run.

The Housing Corporation is a government agency responsible for regulating housing associations across the country. They carry out assessments of all housing associations to ensure that they are meeting certain standards of practice. Following the assessment each association receives a ‘traffic light’ rating of red, amber or green, with green as the highest score.

When assessing an organisation representatives of the Housing Corporation judge whether or not they feel that organisation is financially viable, whether it is properly managed and is correctly governed by its Board, and that it provides sound plans for development.

In receiving a full set of ‘green lights’ One Vision Housing has clearly demonstrated to the Housing Corporation that it has met or exceeded these criteria in each category.

The report from the Housing Corporation highlighted that One Vision Housing is on target to deliver its ambitious £200 million Decent Homes Investment Programme, which will see the housing association spending over £1 million per week on improvements to its properties in 2008 alone.

The Housing Corporation also examined One Vision Housing’s policies and work in relation to a huge variety of areas, including customer care, financial accounting and issues such as anti-social behaviour and Equality and Diversity.

One Vision Housing Chief Executive, Roy Williams said: “The news that we have received a full set of green lights from the Housing Corporation is absolutely fantastic, especially so soon after receiving Charter Mark status.

“This decision is clear evidence that One Vision Housing is operating as an effective and viable organisation and that the arrangements we have put in place are working extremely well. It is also a great reflection of all the hard work that has gone on over the past 16 months and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has played a part in our success.

“Although this is the best possible result for One Vision Housing we still intend to build on this success by continuing the process of improving our homes and delivering excellent customer services.”
