OVH Announces £25 million in contracts for local firms
Sefton’s largest Registered Social Landlord has announced that it is to award up to £25 million of tenders for environmental works to local firms.
In a commitment to local employment One Vision Housing wants to set up long-term collaborative arrangements with local suppliers and contractors to deliver environmental and external property repairs to its properties across Sefton.
The work packages, including fencing, flagging, landscaping, tarmacing, paving and associated environmental works will be open to all business, from SMEs to larger companies and are scheduled to start in Spring/Summer 2009.
Businesses of all sizes are invited to tender, however those firms with turnover of less than £1m and that are eager to grow are particularly encouraged to apply.
As an incentive to smaller businesses One Vision Housing is hosting a free ‘Meet the Buyer’ Day’ on Tuesday 6th May 2008 at Southport Theatre and Convention Centre, The Promenade, Southport PR9 0DZ, from 10.00am – 3.30pm.
The aim of the day is to provide help and support for smaller firms to navigate through the tendering process, which can seem daunting to the uninitiated or previously unsuccessful.
The benefits for smaller businesses from this type of contract will include simplified work packages arranged to match capacity, assistance with training and recruitment, standardised contracts and systems, business development and dependable cash flow payment on 30 days.
One Vision Housing Head of Regeneration and Investment Gordon Ronald said: “As a community-centred organisation One Vision Housing feels it is extremely important to support that community wherever possible.
“By making it easier for local businesses-particularly smaller organisations to tender for these types of work packages we are helping drive the local economy whilst encouraging the long term development of those firms – many of which directly employ our tenants and customers.
“The free Meet the Buyer day on May 6th, 2008 is a fantastic opportunity for ambitious business people in the borough to come along and meet individuals with the skills and experience to help those people move their businesses to the next level and we would encourage everyone to attend.”
